Introducing Duncan Grant
Founder of Reignite Physio
Kia Ora, my name is Duncan a half kiwi/half English. I grew up in the UK and have loved the move to Dunedin with the awesome surfing, MTB, coastlines, climbing opportunities, tramping, trail running.
I set up Reignite Physio at the end of 2022 with the ambitions of creating a sustainable business where I can provide a great service to the community as well as maintain a great work life balance.
What is something that you enjoy the most about the work that you do/the industry that you work in?
Physio is a very satisfying profession when you can help facilitate someone back towards their goals.
It is a profession rich in variety as no two people are the same. For example a runner who has been told they shouldn't run and get back to 10km after 20 years. Or someone with persistent pain who just wants to manage their pain better and walk to the shops. Or even an athlete wanting to get back to regional or national competition.
These all offer different challenges and keeps you thinking.
What is something that people might find surprising about the work that you do/the industry that you work in?
The majority of the information we need to help our patients is from the information they give us rather than the physical assessment.
So when you next see a physio, have a think of 'ICE', what are your Impressions, Concerns and expectations.
What's something that's coming up next for your business?
There's some exciting plans ahead as we have just applied for a grant from SportOtago to help empower kids in Dunedin Primary schools to be more playful and active!
We recently ran some great charity beach yoga sessions for Surf Life Saving at St Clair beach which we will recommence when the weather warms up.
If you follow us on Instagram you'll see some brilliant climbing, ski and general movement video resources.
We are sponsoring all these great clubs and look forward to meeting more of their members with awesome packages and reduced ACC surcharge so spread the word- Ōtepoti Boxing Club, Ōtepoti Dunedin Disc golf, Dunedin Bowls, Metro sports , Resistance Climbing , St Clair Golf.
Reignite Physio also proudly supports Land SAR, Dunedin Surf Life Saving Club members with nil ACC surcharge to thank them for keeping the community active and safe.
Reignite Physio aims to give patients the tools and understanding to facilitate their journey towards their realistic physical goals, to be more active and resilient and enjoy beautiful Dunedin with friends and family.
